American Pride - Dog with FlagBy Dr. Karen Halligan

Independence Day brings about a sense of pride to be living in an amazing country with abundant freedoms—moving us to celebrate with backyard barbecues, picnics, family gatherings, parties, and fireworks. Sorry to say, our four-legged friends don’t understand all the clamor and hoopla. Some pets even have noise phobias, especially with fireworks. People may ooh and aah at fireworks displays, but all that racket and commotion can create real terror in our pets.

Pyrotechnics and pets
While some animals don’t seem to be bothered by the noise, others become very frightened and act in strange, unpredictable ways. Certain cats and dogs have full-blown anxiety attacks. Symptoms of anxiety include shaking, trembling, barking, howling, drooling, attempting to hide, refusing to eat, and trying to leap a fence or escape from an enclosure, yard, or home. Many animals end up lost, hurt, or seriously injured. Read more…

The Much Love Muppets Need Your Support!

June 17th, 2009 | No comments |

Meet The Much Love Muppets! These 3 adorable fluffers were dumped together at the South Los Angeles shelter on Monday by an elderly couple who were being evicted from their home. The wife sadly cried as her husband struggled to communicate with us about their situation. Huddled together, scared and confused- Much Love couldn’t bear to let these 3 dogs succumb to an uncertain fate.

Sadly these Muppets, as we lovingly refer to them because they reminded us of those fuzzy puppets, need a lot of medical attention. They were probably loved, but clearly not well cared for. They will all require dentals, vaccines, spay/neuter, eye exams, grooming, and possibly more… At this time we are low on donations and need sponsors for these special pups. We have named this mop like trio : Fozzie, Animal and Rizo (left to right below) - appropriately after The Muppets!

If you or anyone you know can sponsor, donate, foster, or adopt one or all of these adorable snugglers please contact Much Love Animal Rescue at info@muchlove.org. To learn more about these dogs and all of our wonderful animals, please visit www.muchlove.org.

Thank you so much for your support!

5 Special Dogs

At Much Love, we know that all of our animals are special. But there are 5 dogs that we have been fortunate enough to spend time with that should be in happy homes. These dogs aren’t able to come to every adoption event, so they don’t get the “face time” that many of our other animals do.

So meet our 5 Special Dogs…and share with your friends:
