From Ruthie’s Wonderful Foster Shelley C.: Ruthie is a sweet, truly good natured dog that just desperately wants to be loved. It’s painfully obvious that she’s been abused in the past but after just a few acts of kindness, she develops a trust quickly (even with men). There’s nothing sweeter than when she gently nudges your hand to pet her or when she gives you a few “good morning!!” kisses. 

She is fully housebroken and waits patiently for her walks. Ruthie is perfectly happy following you around the house until you’re ready to go. The best is when she decides to pick up a ball and chase it around the house to pass the time. She even knows to jump in her crate and crawl into bed if you intend to leave the house without her.  

We’re working on her doggy manners -she has a tendency to pick up street treats, jump, growl and bark at passersby. She can be a little possessive over bully sticks as well. She understands quickly and responds very well to a firm ‘no’. 

Although she doesn’t have problems getting along with other dogs, she certainly doesn’t care to become best buds either. She generally ignores our dog and if he tries to play, she instantly becomes submissive and that’s the end of that! She will occasionally put on the tough guy act to other dogs while on a walk, but I believe it’s just her way of trying to protect us.
