vaccination guidelines

DOGS

DA2P-P
(Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus)
1. Puppies have three rounds of vaccinations starting at about 8, then 12 and again at16 weeks of age.
2. Annual boosters are required.
3. Puppies receive an additional Parvo vaccine at 20 weeks of age.

Rabies
1. Puppies are vaccinated at 4-6 months of age.
2. Repeat in one year.
3. Booster requried every three years.

Bordetella-Parainfluenza 
(given in the nose)
("Kennel Cough" or Tracheobronchitis)
1. Vaccinated at least three days before entering kennel.
2. Vaccine effective for 6 months to one year.
3. Vaccine is optional, except where required by kennel or routine contact with other dogs.

Coronavirus and Lyme Disease Vaccines are not routinely recommended.




CATS

DV-FVR-C
(Distemper-Panleukpenia, Rhinotracheitis and Calicivirus)
1. Kittens have three rounds of vaccinations starting at about 8, then 12 and again at 16 weeks of age.
2. Boosters are given annually.

Rabies
1. Kittens vaccinated at 3-6 months of age.
2. Boosters are repeated in one year.
3. Boosters repeated very three years in adults.

Feline Leukemia Virus Vaccine (FeLV)
1. Initial vaccine can be given at 9 weeks of age (FeLV blood test first is ideal).
2. Repeat in 3-4 weeks.
3. Vaccine is repeated annually.

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
1. No vaccine available.
2. Recommend testing after 6 months and repeat yearly.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis Virus (FIP)
Ask Doctor but the vaccine is not routinely recommended.
