Tucker was 7 years old when he and his sister Cookie found me.

Although they knew nothing but neglect for their first seven years, and were ultimately abandoned and left to fend for themselves, they were both the sweetest and most wonderful dogs I have ever known.

Tucker was the happiest dog. Everything he did, every part of his life, made him happy. He loved waking up in the morning. He loved to cuddle and his 65 pounds never stopped him from settling in my lap. He loved going on walks, hikes and running on the beach. And everywhere he went, he led the way, looking back at Cookie and me as if to say, “Hurry up! There’s so much to see!”

He loved books. Oh my, how he loved books, especially first editions! He loved breakfast and supper and all the treats in between. He really loved his bully sticks. He loved meeting people and never had a sideways glance for anyone. And everyone he met was better for having known him.

Old dogs don’t usually get second chances. If Tucker hadn’t gotten a second chance the many people whose lives he made better, that would never have happened. The happy days he had, the happiness he spread, would have been lost. He lived the last years of his life to the fullest, and they were his best.

The Tucker Fund For Old Dogs is in memory and honor of Tucker.

The coolest Old Dog I’ve known.

It is a fund specifically for the rescue and care of dogs 7 years and older.

Older dogs are usually overlooked in our shelters by the general public.  This fund will make it possible for Much Love to rescue even more older dogs in the years to come.  The donations made to the Tucker Fund will go directly to the costs of caring for Much Love’s special senior dogs while they are in our care.
