who we are

Much Love Animal Rescue is a 100% nonprofit, no-kill organization dedicated to reducing overpopulation, abuse and neglect of domestic animals. Much Love is run entirely by like-minded professionals who volunteer their time and resources to help save the lives of these animals. Since 2000, we have successfully placed over 2,000 animals in loving homes.

Much Love Animal Rescue was named “Best L.A. Animal Shelter” in 2003 by Animal Fair magazine.

Much Love is dedicated to the following goals:

Rescuing stray animals from animal shelters who have not been adopted and are now on death row. These animals are often moments away from being euthanized when we are contacted to intervene

Securing a no-kill facility where rescued pets can be safely sheltered without the threat of euthanization until we find adoptive parents for them

Providing medical care to neglected, abused and injured animals
Rehabilitating hard-to-adopt animals and finding them loving homes

Providing spay and neuter services in order to drastically reduce the number of unwanted animals on the street

Educating children and adults alike on responsible pet guardianship

why we do it

12 million animals are euthanized each year in the United States.
That is 1 million a month
1,388 animals an hour
Much Love works tirelessly to decrease this statistic.

what we do

Our primary focus is finding safe, loving homes for unwanted, neglected and/or abused animals. When we find animals wandering the streets, we take them to local shelters to give their owners a chance to claim them. If no owner appears, we take the animals into our possession. We also rescue dogs and cats from the pounds who could be loving pets but are about to be put to sleep due to overcrowding, illness or disease.

Either way, Much Love takes particular care in placing our animals, pure and mixed breed alike. Our screening process includes a three-page application, reference checks and a visit to the potential owner ’s home to ensure the home and family is compatible with the pet’s needs and our requirements. We ask adoptive owners to sign a contract obliging them to contact us if they cannot provide for the animal or if they find they cannot keep the animal.

our goal

Much Love is currently seeking grants, sponsors and donations for our ongoing operations and for a no-kill shelter of our own.

We have recently identified an appropriate facility to call our home base and to house our rescued animals.

Much Love’s goal is to raise enough money to renovate and upgrade this facility which would provide temporary housing for our animals until permanent, loving homes are found.

This facility would eliminate boarding fees, greatly expand our adoption hours and rehabilitation and education programs, and quadruple the number of animals we place. Please help us help these loving animals who cannot help themselves.

how we do it

Much Love is run entirely by volunteers who are dedicated to raising funds, fostering and caring for the animals and participating in weekend mobile adoptions until homes are found for these great pets.

Much Love pays for the boarding of our animals until they are adopted because we do not yet have a permanent facility. Some of our animals stay at veterinary offices or doggie day cares.

Much Love also relies on our foster program which introduces animals into a family environment and gives them the love they crave. This is also a vehicle for potential adoptive parents to “test drive” an animal to see if it fits into their family dynamic, while allowing Much Love to save money on boarding.

Much Love has weekly mobile adoptions for our animals where we show off our great animals and interview potential parents.

Much Love spays or neuters every animal we take in, gives them required innoculations and microchips each animal to ensure if they are ever lost, we will always be contacted.
