Thanks! I would love to know about the CGC certification...When where how etc...Tia ate a ball at the dog park and had to have it surgically removed. $3000 later she was saved. That was the final straw for me!

I have a two year old Boston Terrier and we love going to the dog park and find ourselves there 4 to 5 times a week. We have both made new friends and always enjoy our time there. There have been a fewt imes where people are surprised by her high energy and play style but overall it is a positive experience for both of us.

I'm with you; I have a rescued pit mix who was "bait" for fighting dogs. He was trained, passed his CGC and pretty submissive the first year or so and we took him to the dog park for the first 2 years. But he got "jumped" by other dogs about 4 or 5 times and started becoming fearful-aggressive. Got him out of that, but there were owners there who would bring toys into the park and treats. I also have to say you shouldn't bring toys into a park...dogs (even dogs who aren't the toy owners) can get aggressive over a toy. I know of a dalmation whose stomach was ripped open by an English bulldog over a football toy.

I haven't had my dog to the park in about a year or so and I feel bad, but I also am relaxed knowing he's not going to get in a fight because other people don't control their dogs. And yes, I've seen the looks and heard the comments, and always try to educate the people. Once they know him, they realize it's not the breed, it's the dog. Great post!!
